Ingredients:
-2 cups all purpose flour
-1 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp cream of tartar
-1/4 tsp kosher salt
-1 stick (8 oz.) butter, very cold
-3/4 cup of milk
-1 TBSP honey
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Mix your flour, salt, baking powder and cream of tartar in a large bowl. Add your very cold butter cut into tiny cubes (you can cut, then re-refridgerate to make sure it super cold) into the flour mixture and cut it in into the flour with a cutter or your hands until it is in tiny pebble sized pieces. You can also use a food processor to do this. Once the butter is crumbled well, add your milk and honey and stir until just combined. Pour onto a well floured counter and use your hands to bring it all together. Fold in half and flatten gently. Repeat. (This will help your biscuits have flaky layers). Once its flattened a second time and brought together at all edges, use a sharp knife to cut the biscuits into square pieces (you can absolutely use a biscuit cutter for round biscuits). I like the square pieces so there is no waste. Place onto an oiled or parchement lined baking sheet and brush the tops of the biscuits with milk. Bake for 10-20 mins or until risen and tad browned on top. Serve with sausage gravy, jam and butter OR with a slice of cheese. Enjoy!
